NOL RAJAR GARH
The
chief attraction at Chilapata is the "Nalraja Garh". There exist the ruins of an old fort
in the dense forests at Chilapata on the east bank of the Torsa river a few miles south of the Indo-Bhutan border. It is popularly called “Nal Rajar
Garh”. The Britishers called it
“the Mendabari ruins”. After excavations at this place undertaken by the
archaeological department have shown that these brick constructions belonged to
the “Gupta Age”. It was identified to be one of the frontier fortifications of
the region then known as “ Pundrabardhan Bhukti”.

On the outset of last century, or even in earlier period , tea planters started setting up of

The local resident solely belonging to BODO community ,but bodo people refused to
Work as labourers .And they were ruthlessly ousted from their native village ,
Created by them years after years by dint of heard labour and wholehearted passion for
Their land. And from then onwards, the ousted BODO people started living in a place
Now known as SATALI village. The name originated from the name of a very old
Man of BODO community .His name was SATALU barai(old man).
The township, nearest to Satali is Hamiltanganj. The main gateway to Satali is “Godamdabri”. The greater Satali includes the segments like Dakshin Satali, Paschim Satali, Purba Satali, Madhya Satali, Satali Nakadala , Satali Mandalpara etc. The neighbouring villages include Mendabari, Nimti latabari etc. National Highway stretches through the southern end of village Satali. River Baniya is flowing through this village. Once there was a river Bashra by name. Unfortunately it has turned a canal out of unpardonable apathy of the villagers. The oldest Hat (rural market) named Bifei bazar (Thursday market in Sadri language) is located in Paschim Satali.
